β€œNO GUTS, NO GLORY”

Role: Project Lead & Creative Producer

For The David Prize’s fifth anniversary, we wanted to do something different. When the idea of publishing a coffee table book came up, having never created one before, I said I think I can do that and the rest was history.

Our 120-page book, No Guts, No Glory, takes its name from David Walentas, the Prize’s namesake, who has the phrase embroidered on the cuff of every shirt he owns.

I developed the concept and pulled together a best-in-class creative team, leading the full production from start to finish. That included managing four journalistsβ€”Dan Ming, Mattie Kahn, Neda Toloui-Semnani, and Trone Dowd, who each wrote long-form pieces, along with our editor Katrin van Dam, our graphic designer Irina Koryagina, photographer Jutharat Pinyodoonyachet, and publishing partner Allied Printing.

The book came together over a six-month timeline and the final run of 400 copies was distributed to key stakeholders, journalists, and influential New Yorkers to highlight the Prize’s impact and expand its visibility.
